When it comes to selecting fixtures for a new bathroom, most of us won’t know where to start. But let’s face it, sooner or later each one of us would have to.
We’ve listed down some of the possible reasons that you may be able to connect yourself to,
You could be moving into a new flat fitted with basic fittings and nothing short of an immediate renovation is the answer if you’re not happy with your fittings. You could be bored and tired of your malfunctioning bathroom fittings which are more than 15 years old and need urgent replacement. You could be building a house with great passion and want impeccably designed bathrooms to match which can make people die for.
This entire idea of choosing your bath fittings may sound easy but in reality, a lot of thought goes into designing a new bathroom or remodelling an old one. Should I go for a bathtub? How about a shower enclosure? Should I go for a one-piece toilet or a two-piece one? If you are not changing your sink, which faucet would be compatible with it? That’s right, it gets tricky!
The Five-Step Selection Process:
- Decide on a budget: Before you begin, it’s important to set your expectations right when it comes to the budget you’re willing to invest. The first step is creating a budget and sticking to it. It’s crucial as bathroom fittings can easily add up to unexpected sums if you are buying them for the entire bathroom.
- Pick a style: The style of your home’s design will determine how you choose to design your bathroom. If your bedroom has a traditional interior design, you can’t go for contemporary fittings to match. So the second step would be to choose the bathroom fittings that match your interiors – contemporary, modern, traditional, industrial, etc.
- Stick to a range: Step three would be to stick to a range from your seller. This will make sure that all the bathroom fittings follow the same style.
- Choose the finish: The fourth step would be to refine your choice further by choosing the finish – chrome, bronze, brass, nickel, black, copper, polished, satin, etc.
- Select the brand: And the fifth and final step would be to shortlist two brands and figure out which brand has better customer feedback and reputation.
